Employment Law Attorney – California

Employment Law Attorney Requirements & Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active California Bar license in good standing
Minimum 3 years of California plaintiff-side employment law or employment litigation experience
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Demonstrated ability to independently manage a single-plaintiff caseload
Direct experience handling discrimination, retaliation, or wrongful termination cases
Experience litigating in California Superior Courts and U.S. District Courts
Excellent client communication and organizational skills

Employment Law Attorney Preferred Background & Skills

Trial preparation or trial experience
Experience in high-growth or fast-moving law firms
Spanish-speaking ability

Employment Law Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Manage California plaintiff-side employment matters from intake through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery for state and federal court cases
Conduct and defend depositions under the California Code of Civil Procedure
Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Appear at mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings
Prepare cases for arbitration and trial in various California forums
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and subject matter experts
