Senior Trust & Estates Attorney Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Must reside in New Jersey
  • Active New Jersey Bar admission, in good standing
  • Must reside in New Jersey and able to attend court as needed
  • 8+ years of experience in Trusts & Estates law
  • Demonstrated expertise in estate planning, tax law, and trust administration
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive client matters with discretion and integrity
  • Strong trial or litigation experience preferred
  • Portable book of business or active cases preferred

Must Haves:

  • Draft and review wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents
  • Structure and oversee estate and trust administration matters
  • Supervise the preparation of fiduciary income, estate, and gift tax returns
  • Analyze and quantify the tax impacts of estate and business succession plans
  • Represent clients in probate or Surrogate’s Court proceedings
  • Manage and delegate work to paralegal support staff
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, providing clear, compassionate counsel during complex and emotional matters

Senior Trust & Estates Attorney Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of federal and state tax laws and estate tax principles
  • Experience drafting operating and shareholder agreements
  • Exceptional writing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High emotional intelligence and client empathy
  • A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to a positive firm culture
