General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of full-service restaurant management experience at the General Manager or Assistant General Manager level
  • Catering, events, or banquet experience strongly preferred
  • Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing labor, cost of goods, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Hands-on leadership style with a focus on operational excellence
  • Exceptional guest service skills and ability to build lasting relationships
  • Genuine passion for community engagement

General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience in small-town or resort destination markets
  • Track record of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Comfort with both day-to-day operations and special event execution

General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of daily restaurant operations, setting the standard for service and hospitality
  • Hire, train, coach, and inspire both front- and back-of-house team members
  • Manage staff scheduling, inventory, purchasing, and cost controls
  • Oversee catering and event operations, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and local regulations
  • Foster strong relationships within the local community and represent the restaurant with pride
