General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

3–5+ years of full-service restaurant management experience at the General Manager or Assistant General Manager level
Catering, events, or banquet experience strongly preferred
Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing labor, cost of goods, budgeting, and forecasting
Hands-on leadership style with a focus on operational excellence
Exceptional guest service skills and ability to build lasting relationships
Genuine passion for community engagement

General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

Experience in small-town or resort destination markets
Track record of building and developing high-performing teams
Comfort with both day-to-day operations and special event execution

General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of daily restaurant operations, setting the standard for service and hospitality
Hire, train, coach, and inspire both front- and back-of-house team members
Manage staff scheduling, inventory, purchasing, and cost controls
Oversee catering and event operations, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and local regulations
Foster strong relationships within the local community and represent the restaurant with pride
