Assistant Director of Catering & Events – Austin, TX

Assistant Director of Catering & Events Requirements & Qualifications

2–3 years of leadership or management experience (assistant manager, events lead, or similar)
2+ years in hospitality, catering, private dining, or events
Back of house and kitchen experience strongly preferred
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
TABC Certification and Texas Food Handlers Certification (manager certification preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
Availability for weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods

Assistant Director of Catering & Events Preferred Background & Skills

Experience with R365, Square, or Tripleseat
Strong leadership presence and a team-focused mentality
Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
Business-minded with a passion for hospitality and growth
Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic planning

Assistant Director of Catering & Events Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Act as a key partner and extension of the Director of Catering
Lead, coordinate, and oversee event execution, logistics, and staffing for a variety of catering events
Serve as the primary contact for select clients and high-profile events
Drive sales through relationship-building, outreach, and promotional initiatives
Support event forecasting, scheduling, and resource allocation
Train, mentor, and coach event staff to deliver consistent, high-quality service
Step in as departmental lead when required, ensuring operational excellence and organizational standards
