Executive Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior kitchen leadership role
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and retain a kitchen team
  • Strong background in classic American cuisine and high-volume execution
  • Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen compliance standards

Executive Chef Must Haves

  • Ability to personally cook and execute simple, well-prepared food consistently
  • Hands-on leadership style with a calm, steady presence in the kitchen
  • Strong control of ordering, inventory, and food cost management
  • Clear communication skills with both BOH and FOH leadership

Executive Chef Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience in casual or polished-casual full-service restaurants
  • History of maintaining stable teams and low turnover
  • Comfort working within an established menu and concept
  • Financial awareness, including labor, waste reduction, and portion control
