Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect (Unlicensed)
Position Overview:
This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career landscape professional looking to deepen technical skills while gaining exposure to complex, real-world projects. You’ll support licensed landscape architects and multidisciplinary teams on commercial, municipal, and institutional developments, contributing from concept through construction documentation.
You’ll work in a collaborative environment that values technical rigor, thoughtful design, and practical problem-solving—while positioning you for long-term growth toward licensure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare landscape design and construction documents under the direction of licensed professionals
- Develop grading concepts, planting plans, hardscape layouts, and details
- Assist with site analysis, code research, and zoning/ordinance reviews
- Coordinate with civil engineers, planners, architects, and survey teams
- Support permitting and agency review submissions
- Incorporate sustainability, constructability, and maintenance considerations into designs
- Revise drawings based on internal reviews, client feedback, and regulatory comments
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in landscape design or site development
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with Civil 3D is a plus)
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and site layout fundamentals
- Proficient with planting design, materials, and construction documentation
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting municipal, commercial, or institutional projects
- Exposure to permitting processes and public agency coordination
- Interest in pursuing landscape architecture licensure
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or similar visualization tools
