Senior Mechanical Engineer

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • 5–10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in machine design or industrial automation
  • Strong background designing automated equipment such as conveyors, feeders, stackers, or packaging machinery
  • Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD systems (Creo, Windchill, or comparable platforms)
  • Experience owning mechanical designs from concept through production and lifecycle support
  • Proven ability to lead technical problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials within an ERP environment
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, manufacturing, and service teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) from an ABET-accredited program

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Set mechanical design direction and ensure alignment with manufacturing and assembly capabilities
  • Lead design reviews and guide best practices for documentation, configuration control, and standardization
  • Serve as the senior technical resource for complex mechanical issues in production and the field
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, and cycle-time improvements
  • Translate field and production feedback into design enhancements and risk reduction strategies
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects

  • Experience in printing, packaging, or mail automation environments
  • Exposure to R&D project work or new product development
  • Familiarity with SOP development and engineering process documentation
  • Experience with CNC programming, 3D printing, laser layout, or waterjet technology
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas or algorithm-based calculations
  • Comfort interfacing with customer-facing or sales support teams on technical matters
