Trailer Mechanic Benefits & Compensation

Trailer Mechanic Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of hands-on trailer repair experience
Minimum 1 year of brake system experience
Qualified to complete FHWA/DOT inspections
Strong working knowledge of air, electrical, braking, and suspension systems
General mechanical and body repair knowledge
Valid, current driver’s license
High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Trailer Mechanic Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, and repair commercial trailers in line with established repair standards
Perform required safety and compliance inspections, including FHWA/DOT inspections
Repair and maintain braking systems, suspensions, air systems, and electrical components
Complete work orders accurately and efficiently
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop and yard environment
Follow all safety, compliance, and quality procedures
