Civil Construction Superintendent – Southern California

A respected infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced heavy civil construction superintendent to lead the renovation and upgrade of a water treatment plant, along with other municipal water projects. Civil Construction Superintendent Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role
  • Experience with public works or municipal water treatment projects required
  • Proven track record managing water treatment plant or similar infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction, excavation, and mechanical systems installation
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental compliance for water treatment facilities
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, PMP, or equivalent
  • Experience working for a contractor
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites

Civil Construction Superintendent Preferred Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as HCSS Heavy Job, Masterworks, or similar

Civil Construction Superintendent Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the water treatment plant refit and renovation project
  • Coordinate and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure strict compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, proactively resolving issues to keep the project on track
  • Oversee installation and upgrades of piping, concrete structures, and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain ongoing, clear communication with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Conduct regular site inspections for quality control and compliance with environmental standards
  • Address on-site challenges and implement effective solutions to maintain project milestones
