General Manager – Venue Food & Beverage Operations

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the efficient, professional, and profitable operation of all food service operations at the assigned venue. This individual oversees all managerial, full-time, and part-time staff and ensures full compliance with all applicable labor laws, sanitation and food-related ordinances, and alcohol service regulations. In addition to managing daily business operations, the General Manager actively seeks new sources of revenue both on and off the venue property.

Compensation

This role pays an annual salary of $130,000–$150,000 CAD and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure legal, efficient, professional, and profitable operation of the venue’s food and beverage services.
  • Generate and review financial reports, including budgets, projections, revenue analysis, disbursements, capital investments, labor and product costs, wage control, and P&L statements.
  • Serve as final decision-maker for equipment purchases and leases.
  • Lead conflict resolution, mediation, arbitration, and labor negotiations when applicable.
  • Create, review, and update policies and procedures as needed.
  • Oversee scheduling, labor allocation, and staffing strategies.
  • Analyze ticket sales to forecast staffing needs, target demographics, and point-of-sale requirements.
  • Evaluate historical sales and purchasing data to identify trends and ensure accurate cost-of-goods management.
  • Program and maintain point-of-sale systems to ensure accurate reporting and inventory tracking.
  • Provide leadership to managers, set goals, and ensure accountability.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit required reports on time and ensure departmental reporting compliance.
  • Develop a strong management team and support their continuous improvement.
  • Review and assist with menu development and marketing plans.
  • Build positive relationships with event managers, suppliers, vendors, and the public.

Qualifications

  • MA or MS preferred; BA or BS with a business-related major required.
  • 5–7 years of management experience in high-volume food service, concessions, or a similar industry.
  • Certification from a nationally recognized advanced food service sanitation program.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ability to make sound operational decisions quickly and under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, POS systems, and timekeeping software.
  • Ability to perform in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concession and premium service operations.
  • Valid Food Handler certificate and Alcohol Service Permit where required.
  • Thorough knowledge of sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, alcohol service policies, and safety standards.
  • Strong math skills, including basic and complex calculations.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume stadium, arena, or ballpark environment required.
  • Accounting coursework or minor preferred.
