Lead Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Plumbing Design
Overview
A leading engineering and construction services provider is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and plumbing design for a wide range of projects, from $25k tenant improvements to $30MM facility builds. Serving as the Client’s primary point of contact, this role will deliver high-quality mechanical design services, from concept through engineering-stamped contract documents. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership in project delivery, and proven experience in the Washington State market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HVAC and plumbing design efforts as the primary Client liaison on construction projects up to $30MM in value.
- Provide comprehensive design services, from basis of design through stamped contract documentation.
- Prepare and manage Division 22 and 23 specifications to support project designs.
- Conduct load and sizing calculations for mechanical systems.
- Support project pursuits by preparing proposals, statements of qualifications, and participating in interviews.
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams across diverse delivery methods, including design-build, design-bid-build, MCCM, design assist, and progressive design-build.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design templates, tools, and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational and client success.
- Mentor junior Engineers.
Qualifications
- Licensed Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) required.
- 6+ years of mechanical design experience with a focus on HVAC and plumbing systems.
