Chief Engineer – Pittsburgh, PA

Chief Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel environment
Previous hotel management experience in engineering/maintenance is required
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
Basic computer proficiency with work order systems, email, and spreadsheets
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts

Chief Engineer Preferred Background & Skills

Previous Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer experience
CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification is a plus
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Chief Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Oversee daily operation and maintenance of all building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety
Lead preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms and public spaces to ensure excellent condition
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and team members
Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers, including project oversight
Ensure compliance with hotel brand standards, safety codes, and local/state/federal regulations
Guide, train, and supervise the maintenance team while promoting a culture of safety and service
Develop and manage the maintenance budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for savings
