Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials including stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, copper, tungsten, tool steels, and other specialty metals
- Identify and develop new supplier relationships while expanding volumes with existing accounts
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and adherence to industry specifications
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to support profitability and supply stability
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and inventory levels to guide purchasing decisions
- Coordinate inbound logistics and transportation to ensure reliable material flow
- Manage settlements, sortation reports, and supplier payment expectations
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support operational needs
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and resolve quality or supply issues
- Maintain accurate procurement records including purchase orders, contracts, and pricing agreements
- Participate in industry conferences, meetings, and marketing initiatives
- Assist with website updates and social media presence as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain within the metals or manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of metal types, grades, and specifications (stainless, nickel alloys, aluminum, copper, etc.)
- Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills
- Familiarity with metal industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, and SAE and quality systems such as ISO
- Proficiency with ERP systems, procurement software, and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Understanding of logistics, transportation, and inventory management principles
- Relevant procurement or supply chain certifications are a plus
