Gaithersburg, MD | On-Site
$105,000–$115,000 Base Salary + 5% Annual Bonus
We are seeking a creative and strategic Director of Site Events & Activations to lead employee events, engagement programs, and activations for a premier corporate campus in Gaithersburg, MD.
This is not simply an event execution role. We are looking for a leader who can partner with senior site leadership, understand business and employee-engagement priorities, and turn those objectives into a creative annual calendar of events, experiences, and programming.
The Director will oversee three large annual Signature Events while also developing monthly and quarterly programs focused on areas such as employee engagement, sustainability, volunteerism, mentorship, health and wellbeing, community involvement, cultural programming, and workplace experience.
Success in this role requires creativity, strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to create high-impact experiences without always relying on a large budget.
What You'll Do
- Develop and lead the annual Site Events & Activations strategy and calendar
- Partner with senior site leadership to understand priorities, goals, and employee-engagement opportunities
- Translate business objectives into creative events, activations, and workplace experiences
- Lead three large-scale annual Signature Events
- Develop monthly and quarterly employee programs throughout the year
- Create programming around sustainability, volunteerism, mentorship, wellbeing, community engagement, and workplace culture
- Develop cultural and heritage programming throughout the year
- Create low-cost, high-impact activations by leveraging partnerships, community resources, and creative ideas
- Manage a fixed annual budget and strategically allocate resources across large and small programs
- Manage vendors, contracts, timelines, and event logistics
- Partner with culinary, catering, AV, facilities, communications, and workplace teams
- Measure participation, engagement, feedback, and overall program effectiveness
- Introduce new event concepts, technology, and tools to improve planning and engagement
- Lead, coach, and develop the Events & Activations team
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders and become a trusted advisor on site engagement
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate events, employee engagement, experiential events, workplace experience, hospitality, or event strategy
- Leadership experience managing or developing event professionals
- Experience creating an annual event, engagement, or programming calendar
- Strong corporate event and employee-engagement experience
- Experience working directly with senior executives or corporate stakeholders
- Ability to understand organizational priorities and translate them into creative programming
- Strong budget management and financial planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to create meaningful programs with limited resources
- Experience managing large-scale events as well as smaller recurring activations
- Strong vendor negotiation and relationship-management skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills
- Creative, resourceful, and comfortable bringing new ideas forward
- Strong project-management and organizational skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, event technology, project-management platforms, and emerging tools such as AI
Ideal Background
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in:
- Corporate events and employee engagement
- Workplace experience
- Experiential events and activations
- Corporate hospitality
- Conference and event strategy
- Experiential marketing
- Community or cultural programming
- Large corporate or association event programs
What Will Make You Successful
The ideal candidate is more than an excellent event planner. You are someone who asks why an event or activation is needed before determining what it should look like.
You are comfortable sitting with senior leadership, understanding their goals, and developing programming that supports those priorities. You can create an impressive large-scale event, but you're equally energized by finding a creative way to engage employees with a limited budget.
You combine strategy, creativity, hospitality, financial discipline, and strong execution while developing a team and building trusted relationships across the organization.
Compensation & Benefits
- $105,000–$115,000 base salary
- 5% annual performance bonus
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
- Career advancement opportunities
- Collaborative, hospitality-focused culture
This is a fully on-site leadership position in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
