Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate – Portland, OR
A leading national law firm is seeking a junior to midlevel associate to join its growing Emerging Companies & Venture Capital practice in Portland. This is an exciting opportunity to advise innovative startups, founders, and venture investors across the vibrant technology and startup ecosystem. Associates work closely with seasoned partners and gain meaningful responsibility on sophisticated transactions, building hands-on expertise and strong client relationships in a collaborative, supportive environment.
Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate Benefits & Compensation
- Annual base salary of $210,000–$265,000 (commensurate with experience and other factors)

Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in emerging companies, venture capital, or corporate transactions at a law firm
- Demonstrated experience with venture financings, startup formation, and general corporate matters
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the Oregon Bar
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a team-oriented environment
- Interest in working with technology companies, founders, and venture investors
Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience supporting venture capital investors in equity financings
- Familiarity with mergers, acquisitions, and secondary transactions involving startups
Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Associate Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Advise founders and growing companies on entity formation, governance, and daily legal matters
- Support complex venture capital financings, from seed through later-stage investments
- Represent venture capital funds and other investors during transactions and financings
- Draft and negotiate transaction documents, including financing agreements and governance materials
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary attorneys in areas such as technology transactions, privacy, and corporate strategy
- Guide founders and management teams through strategic business and legal challenges
