Associate Attorney – Family Law Litigation
Charlotte, NC | $80K–$130K Base + Bonus | Growth Opportunity
Are you looking for more than a place to bill hours?
We are partnering with a growing Charlotte-area law firm seeking an Associate Attorney to join a collaborative, litigation-driven family law practice where attorneys are empowered to take ownership of their work, advocate meaningfully for clients, and grow their careers within a supportive team environment.
This is not a highly siloed environment where attorneys disappear behind drafting assignments. This is an opportunity to manage cases, develop courtroom confidence, build client relationships, and work alongside leadership that values accountability, communication, and professional development.
The ideal candidate enjoys balancing independent ownership with team collaboration and is energized by helping clients navigate some of life’s most important and emotionally complex decisions.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Manage an active caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, negotiations, and related proceedings
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal correspondence, and case strategy
- Maintain proactive and professional communication with clients
- Partner closely with legal support teams to ensure efficient case progression
- Participate in litigation planning, case reviews, and team initiatives
- Navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment
- Maintain organization, meet deadlines, and drive case movement
The Environment
This firm has built a collaborative operating model designed to create both accountability and support.
Attorneys work within dedicated teams supported by:
- Legal support professionals
- Structured communication rhythms
- Ongoing coaching and development
- Defined expectations and measurable performance goals
The culture rewards ownership, initiative, responsiveness, and attorneys who want to continue expanding responsibility over time.
Ideal Background
- Active North Carolina Bar admission
- 2+ years of litigation experience (family law strongly preferred)
- Experience appearing in court and advocating directly for clients
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Comfortable managing deadlines and balancing multiple active matters
- Experience with mediation, negotiation, or settlement strategy preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively while independently driving outcomes
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $80,000–$130,000 DOE
- Quarterly and annual bonus opportunity
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Employer contribution toward healthcare premiums
- Life and disability insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid time off and holidays
- Paid wellness and personal time
- CLE and professional development support
- Team events, celebrations, and additional employee perks
What Success Looks Like
This opportunity is best suited for an attorney who:
- Wants meaningful case ownership
- Enjoys client interaction and advocacy
- Values strong culture and collaboration
- Thrives in a high-accountability environment
- Is motivated by long-term growth rather than short-term title progression
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing legal team where your contributions are visible, your development is supported, and your work has a direct impact on clients’ lives.
