Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer – Civil Construction

Location: Philadelphia Metro (PA, NJ, or DE)

Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 + Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support civil construction projects throughout the Philadelphia region. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career construction professional looking to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction.

The ideal candidate will have exposure to site development, earthwork, underground utilities, stormwater systems, wastewater infrastructure, or municipal construction projects through internships, co-ops, field experience, or previous employment.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, engineers, and clients to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination
  • Track project schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors
  • Support construction activities involving:
    • Earthwork and grading
    • Site development
    • Stormwater systems
    • Underground utilities
    • Water mains
    • Sanitary sewer systems
    • Wastewater infrastructure
  • Assist with permit tracking and municipal compliance requirements
  • Review project plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain documentation
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Help ensure safety and quality standards are maintained

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field
  • 1–3 years of construction experience, internship experience, or co-op experience
  • Strong interest in heavy civil construction and site development
  • Exposure to any of the following:
    • Earthwork
    • Excavation
    • Stormwater systems
    • Underground utilities
    • Water distribution systems
    • Wastewater collection systems
    • Sitework
    • Roadway construction
    • Municipal infrastructure projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or project management software is a plus
