Vice President, Project Management

Department: PMO

Reports To: COO

Location: North Dallas

About the Role

A fast‑growing organization is seeking a Vice President of Project Management to build and lead a high‑performance PMO responsible for delivering complex electrical equipment projects for hyperscale data centers.

This is a builder role — you will design, implement, and scale the PMO from the ground up while driving execution on critical customer programs. You will own project delivery end‑to‑end, from sales handoff through equipment turnover, ensuring predictable schedules, disciplined execution, and world‑class customer delivery.

You will partner closely with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Operations, and lead a growing team of Project Managers and Field Service Technicians across switchgear, ATS, RPP, UPS, and UL‑listed panel assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

PMO Leadership & Execution

  • Build and lead the PMO, including structure, governance, and standardized execution processes
  • Own delivery across all projects (schedule, budget, scope, documentation, turnover)
  • Drive consistent execution from sales handoff through engineering, procurement, production, delivery, and closeout
  • Establish stage gates, project controls, and reporting rhythms for visibility and accountability

Cross‑Functional Delivery

  • Align Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Operations around project priorities
  • Coordinate end‑to‑end execution to ensure on‑time delivery
  • Identify and remove risks and bottlenecks across long‑lead and engineer‑to‑order project environments
  • Improve handoffs, expectation setting, and change visibility with Sales and Leadership

Team Leadership

  • Lead and scale a high‑performing team of Project Managers and Field Service Technicians
  • Define roles, capacity, KPIs, and accountability across project and field execution
  • Coach the team on execution discipline, communication, and decision‑making under pressure
  • Build a culture of ownership, urgency, and follow‑through

Customer & Commercial Management

  • Ensure clear, consistent communication on schedules, risks, and project status
  • Own escalations, issue resolution, and high‑risk customer programs
  • Drive disciplined change order management to protect scope, schedule, and margin
  • Ensure strong turnover readiness (documentation, startup coordination, closeout)

Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement tools and systems for project tracking, forecasting, and reporting
  • Establish KPIs for delivery performance, cycle time, and execution quality
  • Improve speed, predictability, and cross‑functional handoffs
  • Build scalable processes to support rapid growth

Industry & Technical Experience

  • Electrical equipment manufacturing, power distribution, data center, or industrial engineer‑to‑order environments
  • Familiarity with long‑lead procurement, UL standards (508A, 891, 67), factory coordination, and commissioning/turnover processes

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, EPC, industrial systems, or ETO environments
  • 5+ years leading teams or PM organizations
  • Proven experience building or scaling a PMO or project delivery function
  • Track record delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary projects on time and within budget
  • Strong operator mindset with a focus on execution and outcomes
  • Experience managing large project portfolios with competing priorities
  • Solid financial acumen (budgeting, cost tracking, margin management, change orders)
  • Strong risk identification, escalation, and mitigation capability
  • Experience implementing project management tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and build structure in fast‑scaling environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or equivalent certification
  • Experience in high‑growth or scaling organizations
  • Experience implementing ERP and PM tool integrations
  • Background in data center infrastructure, hyperscale environments, or mission‑critical power systems
  • Experience leading both office‑based PM teams and field execution teams

What This Role Offers

  • High Impact: Build the execution engine behind next‑generation infrastructure
  • Ownership: Lead a critical function from the ground up
  • Growth: Opportunity to scale both the PMO and Field Service organization
  • Fast Pace: Operate in a high‑growth environment where execution matters
  • Builder Culture: Join a team that values accountability, urgency, and practical problem‑solving
