Production Engineer (Oil & Gas) – Hybrid Role
A private, independent oil and natural gas operator is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to support ongoing development across key U.S. resource plays. The company focuses on exploration, development, and production of onshore unconventional assets and maintains a collaborative, flexible workplace culture. This hybrid position is based in the Dallas, TX area and requires in‑office presence four days per week.
Role Overview
The Production Engineer will analyze production data, evaluate well performance, and recommend field enhancement projects. This role applies established engineering techniques to optimize production, identify workover opportunities, and support safe, efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles to improve oil and gas well performance while ensuring safe, compliant operations.
- Monitor and optimize chemical programs to mitigate scale, corrosion, and erosion in wellbores and surface equipment.
- Prepare and participate in well reviews with field teams, evaluating well status, activity results, and future action items.
- Track well and lease production, diagnose performance issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify workover candidates, prepare AFEs with economic justification, develop procedures, and oversee field execution.
- Conduct LOE analysis and recommend cost‑reduction opportunities.
- Implement processes to protect wells from operational hazards such as offset frac activity.
- Support flowback monitoring and reporting for new wells.
- Collaborate closely with field personnel, including periodic field visits.
- Participate in special projects aimed at optimizing production processes, equipment efficiency, and operating expenses.
- Evaluate new technologies, products, and vendor solutions.
- Maintain technical expertise through training, professional development, and industry engagement.
- Perform additional duties and project work as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education & Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Working knowledge of tools such as Aries, Spotfire, Nodal Analysis software, Peloton/WellView, and Microsoft Office (preferred).
Experience
- 5–8 years of production engineering experience.
- Background in unconventional assets (tight gas sands, shales, CBM).
- Experience with workovers and completions.
- Experience in major shale basins such as the Haynesville or Eagle Ford (preferred).
Competencies
- Strong understanding of production engineering techniques and industry practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective collaboration with reservoir engineering, field operations, and vendors.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with personal computing and engineering software tools.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule based in the Dallas, TX area (four days per week onsite).
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- No current or future sponsorship is available.
