Assistant General Manager – Hotel Operations (PM Shift)
St. Louis, MO | $95,000–$105,000
Are you ready to step into broader hotel leadership and position yourself for a future General Manager role?
We are seeking an experienced hospitality leader to serve as the senior operational leader during the PM shift at a premier full-service executive hotel and conference center in St. Louis.
This is not a traditional Manager on Duty position. You will have broad exposure across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Conference Services, AV, Engineering, guest experience, and employee culture while working closely with the General Manager and department leadership. The typical schedule is approximately 12:00 PM–8:00 PM or 1:00 PM–9:00 PM, depending on business needs. This is not an overnight position.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of the overall hotel operation during the afternoon and evening hours, supporting department leaders, interacting with executive and VIP guests, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring the entire property delivers a consistently high level of hospitality.
The role is ideal for an experienced Assistant General Manager, Director of Rooms, Rooms Division Manager, Director of Food & Beverage, Hotel Operations Manager, or similar hospitality leader who is ready for broader operational responsibility and continued advancement toward GM leadership.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Lead the overall PM hotel and conference-center operation while maintaining high standards across guest service, rooms, food and beverage, housekeeping, events, facilities, and conference services.
- Serve as a visible senior leader throughout the property and a key point of contact for guests, clients, executives, and department leaders.
- Review daily arrivals, departures, conferences, events, VIP activity, and operational priorities while anticipating potential service issues before they occur.
- Coach and support managers and employees while reinforcing a culture of hospitality, accountability, professionalism, communication, and teamwork.
- Partner closely with the General Manager and department heads to identify operational opportunities, resolve recurring challenges, and continuously improve the guest and employee experience.
- Take ownership of service recovery, operational decisions, and emergency response during the PM operation.
What We're Looking For
- Progressive leadership experience within a full-service hotel, resort, executive conference center, or similar hospitality environment.
- Experience in Rooms, Food & Beverage, or broader hotel operations with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- Strong leadership, coaching, guest-service, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional executive presence and confidence interacting with senior clients, executives, VIP guests, and high-profile clientele.
- A hands-on leader who is comfortable making decisions, supporting department heads, and taking ownership of the overall operation.
- Opera and Micros experience is preferred.
- Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to continue growing into broader hotel leadership.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- This position provides something many department-head roles do not: exposure to the entire hotel operation.
- Rather than remaining within one functional area, you will work across Rooms, F&B, Housekeeping, Events, Conference Services, AV, Engineering, and Guest Experience while partnering directly with senior hotel leadership.
- For the right hospitality professional, this is an opportunity to build the operational experience needed to continue progressing toward Assistant General Manager and General Manager leadership.
Benefits
- Full Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Bonus
- PTO
- Paid holidays
- Career growth and advancement opportunities
- Employee wellness and hospitality benefits.
