Civil Engineering Project Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline
• Registered Professional Engineer preferred
• Minimum of 8+ years civil engineering experience, including 3+ years in assistant project management
• Expertise in land development engineering for residential and commercial projects
• Solid understanding of municipal codes and regulations
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS strongly preferred
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
• Experience with storm drain modeling, hydrologic calculations, and open channel/detention basin design
• Knowledge of HEC-RAS modeling and CLOMR/LOMR processes
• Ability to research zoning, development standards, review processes, and compliance requirements
• Strong technical writing skills for reports, narratives, applications, and correspondence

Civil Engineering Project Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead project development including scope, budgets, bid summaries, and cost estimates
• Manage multiple projects to meet schedule and budget targets
• Prepare and review designs, plans, specifications, estimates, and reports
• Monitor project finances, including costs, billing, and accounts receivable
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships to ensure successful delivery and secure repeat business
• Supervise project personnel to uphold high professional standards
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, design teams, and regulatory agencies
• Assist with marketing initiatives and client presentations
• Provide technical support to resolve design issues and conduct field inspections
• Review contract changes and assess impacts on staffing and budgets
