Retail Project Manager – Indianapolis, IN

A respected real estate and mixed-use development organization is seeking a results-driven project manager to lead specialty retail construction projects across a national portfolio. Retail Project Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction project management experience
  • Owner’s representative, landlord-side, developer, or strong retail construction background
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple contractors simultaneously across projects
  • Familiarity with leases, tenant obligations, liquidated damages, and time-sensitive project delivery
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently
  • Willing and able to relocate to Indianapolis, IN
  • Ability to travel to project sites approximately 50% of the time

Retail Project Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience with retail tenant improvements, big-box retail, restaurants, theaters, entertainment venues, or outparcel construction
  • Multi-market project oversight and skills handling lease-driven deadlines

Retail Project Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple specialty retail construction projects from preconstruction through tenant turnover
  • Represent owner interests by leading general contractors, vendors, and consultants across diverse locations
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, approval processes, and compliance with tenant requirements
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, keeping projects on target for hard lease and opening deadlines
  • Maintain strong stakeholder communication and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Travel regularly to project sites to ensure quality, troubleshoot issues, and guide project completion
