Fire Alarm Sales Representative – Eastern Michigan
Build the Relationships. Win the Projects. Grow the Territory.
If you know the fire alarm industry, understand the bid/spec world, and have relationships with electrical contractors, this is an opportunity to turn that experience into serious earning potential.
We’re looking for a Fire Alarm Sales Representative to grow commercial fire alarm business throughout Eastern Michigan. You’ll develop contractor relationships, uncover upcoming projects, pursue engineered opportunities, and manage the sales process from initial conversation through proposal and award.
This is a field-based role for someone who understands the technical side of fire alarm sales but knows that strong relationships are what ultimately win business.
Compensation & Benefits
- First 6 months: $100,000 annualized base salary, paid bi-weekly
- After 6 months: $50,000 base salary + uncapped commission
- Monthly car allowance
- Mileage reimbursement
- Benefits package
- 401(k)
- Unlimited PTO with manager approval
- Established territory with significant growth opportunity
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and expand relationships with electrical contractors throughout Eastern Michigan
- Develop business with engineers, consultants, end users, and other industry partners
- Find and pursue commercial fire alarm projects in the bid/spec market
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Perform takeoffs and develop proposals for fire alarm opportunities
- Sell new fire alarm systems, system upgrades, service agreements, and related solutions
- Provide contractors with technical support throughout the bidding and sales process
- Identify upcoming construction projects and maintain an active pipeline
- Partner with engineering, operations, and project teams after projects are awarded
- Maintain accurate opportunity, activity, and forecasting information within CRM
- Attend contractor meetings, customer visits, and industry events throughout the territory
What Will Make You Successful
- Commercial fire alarm sales experience
- Experience selling within a bid and specification environment
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Experience completing or supporting project takeoffs
- Working knowledge of engineered fire alarm systems
- Understanding of NFPA requirements and life safety applications
- Established electrical contractor relationships within Eastern Michigan strongly preferred
- Experience with NOTIFIER and/or Potter systems is highly desirable
Additional Low-Voltage Experience Is a Plus
Experience selling or supporting any of the following is valuable:
- Access control
- CCTV and video surveillance
- Intrusion detection
- Mass notification and sound systems
- Integrated security and other low-voltage systems
The Right Fit
You’re comfortable developing a territory rather than waiting for leads to land in your inbox. You can walk into an electrical contractor’s office, talk intelligently about an upcoming project, review the plans, and build credibility without turning every conversation into a sales pitch.
You’re organized, technically capable, persistent, and comfortable managing multiple opportunities at different stages of the sales cycle.
If you know the Eastern Michigan fire alarm market and can turn contractor relationships into projects, we should talk.
