We're seeking an experienced Service Director to help launch an exciting new restaurant in Greenwich. This leadership role is dedicated to elevating every aspect of the guest experience by setting the standard for hospitality, developing a world-class front-of-house team, and ensuring flawless execution on every service. As a founding member of the leadership team, you'll work closely with the General Manager to build a culture of excellence from day one.

Service Director Responsibilities

  • Lead front-of-house service during every shift, setting the standard for hospitality and guest engagement.
  • Own the overall guest experience by ensuring exceptional service, seamless pacing, and flawless execution throughout the dining room.
  • Lead engaging pre-shift meetings that educate, motivate, and prepare the team for service.
  • Maintain and enforce the restaurant's service standards across the dining room and private events.
  • Build meaningful relationships with regular guests and VIPs while ensuring personalized hospitality.
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally, turning challenges into memorable experiences.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop captains, servers, hosts, and support staff.
  • Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive front-of-house training materials and service standards.
  • Partner with the beverage team to ensure staff confidently present and recommend wine and beverage offerings.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef to ensure seamless communication between the front and back of house.
  • Monitor guest feedback and continuously improve service standards to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Service Director Qualifications

  • 4+ years of front-of-house leadership experience in fine dining or upscale hospitality.
  • Proven success developing and leading high-performing service teams.
  • Exceptional hospitality instincts with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid wine knowledge; Sommelier certification (CMS, WSET, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience with reservation platforms such as SevenRooms, Resy, or similar.
  • Experience with POS systems including Toast, Aloha, or equivalent.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and detail-oriented in a high-volume environment.
  • Previous opening or pre-opening restaurant experience is highly preferred.
