Seeking a Banking & Finance Attorney to join a well-established, full-service law firm with a respected commercial finance practice and multiple office locations throughout Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience representing both lenders and borrowers in sophisticated commercial finance transactions. The firm is flexible on level and is open to experienced associates through partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent commercial lenders and borrowers in a broad range of financing transactions.
  • Structure, negotiate, and document secured and unsecured credit facilities.
  • Handle working capital lines of credit, term loan facilities, real estate financing, and asset-based lending transactions.
  • Lead transactions from inception through closing while managing multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, practical legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on complex commercial transactions.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and assist with team development, as appropriate for experience level.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Michigan Bar admission or ability to obtain admission promptly.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial banking and finance law.
  • Experience representing both lenders and borrowers in commercial finance transactions.
  • Strong background structuring, negotiating, and documenting secured and unsecured credit facilities, including syndicated and single-lender transactions.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions while providing exceptional client service.
  • For senior-level candidates, experience leading complex matters and supervising client relationships is preferred.
  • Business development experience is welcomed, but a portable book of business is not required.
