Sous Chef Qualifications

  • 3+ years of culinary leadership experience in a high-volume, upscale kitchen
  • Strong background in Asian cuisine with exceptional culinary technique and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop kitchen teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing food and labor costs, inventory, purchasing, and recipe costing
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations; ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods

Sous Chef Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations while maintaining exceptional food quality and consistency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop culinary team members to ensure efficient production and high performance
  • Manage inventory, ordering, scheduling, food costs, and labor expenses to meet operational goals
  • Assist with menu development, recipe creation, and standardized culinary execution
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen environment that meets all regulatory standards
  • Ensure every dish is prepared with precision, consistency, and the presentation expected in an upscale dining experience
