DevOps Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, cloud operations, or site reliability–focused roles
  • Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps practices, cloud architecture principles, identity, networking, and security concepts (including zero trust models)
  • Experience designing, implementing, or migrating Azure cloud solutions
  • Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD using tools such as Terraform, YAML, and Git-based pipelines
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
  • Experience with Azure environments following Well-Architected Framework (WAF) and Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) principles
  • Skilled in monitoring, logging, and observability for performance and incident management
  • Hands-on background with containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes)

DevOps Engineer Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience working in hybrid and multi-cloud environments
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as CIS, NIST 800-53, or GDPR
  • Relevant cloud or DevOps certifications
  • Knowledge of Azure Landing Zones and supporting cloud migration or modernization initiatives

DevOps Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines and supporting cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborate with business, IT, and development teams to evolve automation, platform standards, and delivery pipelines
  • Develop and deploy infrastructure and applications using IaC, DevOps tooling, and governed CI/CD practices
  • Embed DevOps practices across the solution lifecycle for secure, maintainable systems
  • Support cloud migration and modernization projects, enabling automated workflows and operational excellence
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, incident response, and cost visibility to promote reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud operations
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies to enhance delivery and operational maturity
