The Opportunity & Impact

We are seeking a "plug-and-play" Litigation Attorney to join our team, with a primary focus on the Syracuse and Central/Upstate New York market. This is a high-impact, autonomous role where you will manage your own caseload from intake through resolution.

Long-Term Trajectory: In addition to handling a robust insurance defense caseload, a primary objective of this role is to work closely alongside our senior partner, David Walsh, to seamlessly absorb and eventually take full ownership of his highly respected municipal law practice ahead of his upcoming retirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse litigation caseload involving Insurance Defense and Municipal Law / Public Entity Defense matters.
• Draft pleadings, substantive motions, discovery demands, and federal/state court filings.
• Conduct and defend depositions, handle oral arguments, and attend court hearings.
• Collaborate closely with founding partners on case strategy and second-chair trials.
• Maintain excellent time-tracking discipline to meet an annual expectation of 1,800 billable hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 7 years of practicing civil litigation experience (ideally with a direct background in Insurance Defense or defending municipalities in tort/civil rights claims). We lack the capacity to train from scratch; immediate autonomy is required.
• Admissions: Juris Doctor (JD) and active admission to the New York State Bar. Strong preference for admission to the Federal District Courts of New York (NDNY/WDNY).
• Logistics: This position offers 100% remote work flexibility for candidates in the Syracuse footprint, but you must have the regional mobility to independently handle local court appearances, depositions, and client meetings across Central NY.

• Compensation: Competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $125,000 (up to $160,000 for exceptional seniority/experience).
