Manager of Procurement & Stores Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations management, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5–7+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or warehouse management experience, ideally in steel manufacturing, heavy industry, machining, or metals
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar)
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Deep knowledge of inventory control techniques
  • Leadership abilities with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience with FAR/DFARS and federal-contractor procurement compliance
  • Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or nuclear/defense quality and traceability requirements

Manager of Procurement & Stores Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse functions
  • Develop local procurement and sourcing strategies focused on cost savings and reliability
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service levels with suppliers, and assess ongoing vendor performance
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, federal-contractor rules, and audit standards
  • Train, develop, and supervise procurement and stores team members, setting clear goals and metrics
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels, implement best-in-class inventory controls, and maintain accurate ERP records
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and finance to meet production and operational needs
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse organization, safety, and processes
