Application Analyst
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Application Analyst to serve as the primary technical liaison between the Information Technology team and operational users across Drilling, Completions, Production Engineering, and Reservoir functions within an upstream oil and gas environment.
This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining business-critical applications that support operational workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in IT application support, combined with hands-on experience supporting upstream oil and gas software and processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with software vendors, business stakeholders, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure application availability, data integrity, and the effective use of technology investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 support for upstream oil and gas applications, including WellView, Aries, Spotfire, and related operational systems.
- Manage user access, security permissions, software updates, and application maintenance activities in coordination with vendors and infrastructure teams.
- Develop scripts and automation solutions to streamline manual processes and support data integrations across operational, reporting, business intelligence, and accounting platforms.
- Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to troubleshoot data issues, monitor application performance, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Create and maintain user training materials, system documentation, and knowledge base resources.
- Support data analytics, reporting, and emerging AI-enabled solutions designed to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist with application lifecycle management, testing, and implementation of new technologies.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of IT application support experience.
- At least 1 year of experience supporting applications within an upstream oil and gas environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Office technologies, including SharePoint, Power BI, Excel Power Query, and Outlook.
- Experience supporting operational software in the oil and gas industry.
- Understanding of upstream business processes, including:
- Well lifecycle management
- Production reporting
- Completions data analysis
- Reserves and asset evaluation workflows
- Knowledge of data management practices, SCADA systems, AI-enabled technologies, and project collaboration tools.
- Experience with IT service management (ITSM) processes, help desk ticketing systems, cybersecurity best practices, and enterprise data management.
- Familiarity with Python, Snowflake, Power Automate, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar automation and AI-assisted development tools is preferred.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring regular onsite collaboration and participation in a corporate office environment. Employees are expected to work onsite multiple days per week, with flexibility for remote work based on company policy.
