Journeyman Installation Technician Requirements & Qualifications:

Must Haves

Active Journeyman HVAC license
5+ years of hands-on HVAC installation experience
EPA Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems including furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, ductwork, and ventilation
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Install complete HVAC systems in residential and light commercial environments
Perform system start-ups, testing, and calibration to ensure proper performance
Modify and fabricate ductwork as needed for proper airflow and system efficiency
Ensure all work meets local codes, manufacturer specs, and safety standards
Troubleshoot installation issues and make real-time adjustments in the field
Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding system operation and best practices
Maintain a clean, organized truck and safe job site
Complete installation documentation and job records accurately

Journeyman Installation Technician Preferred Background & Skills:

Prior team lead or mentoring experience
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Experience passing inspections on first review
Commitment to ongoing technical training and certifications
High attention to detail with a low-callback mindset
Comfort working in varying weather conditions and environments
