Sports Complex General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in facility management or sports operations
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Proven scheduling and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Knowledge of safety standards and building maintenance

Sports Complex General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Strategic planning and budgeting experience
  • Customer service expertise
  • Event logistics or large-scale event planning experience

Sports Complex General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day facility operations, ensuring efficient scheduling and smooth logistics for practices and events
  • Supervise, hire, and train staff across maintenance, concessions, and guest services
  • Ensure grounds, equipment, and common areas are maintained to the highest safety and cleanliness standards
  • Manage budgets, operational expenses, and revenue opportunities, including rentals and sponsorships
  • Plan and execute leagues, tournaments, and special events in partnership with community organizations
  • Develop and implement safety, security, and emergency response procedures
  • Promote the facility through marketing and relationship-building with local leagues and potential partners
