Director of Catering Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in catering management, hospitality, or related food service roles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
  • Budgeting and financial management expertise
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Director of Catering Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience working with event management software such as Delphi or Versa
  • Previous experience supporting wedding, banquet, and group event sales
  • Comfort leading cross-departmental teams within a resort or hospitality environment

Director of Catering Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage all leads and inquiries for event and day group business, from proposal to execution
  • Oversee catering sales, event planning, and operational details to ensure memorable outcomes
  • Collaborate with sales, culinary, food & beverage, and operational teams to coordinate details across the resort
  • Lead, mentor, and train sales and event staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs and service standards
  • Maintain strong relationships with planners, vendors, and clients to foster repeat and referral business
  • Handle contract negotiation, payment processing, and budget oversight for all catered events
  • Represent the resort at client meetings, tours, trade shows, and community functions to drive business growth
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to develop creative strategies for new business development
