A dynamic, newly formed manufacturer of UL-certified electrical equipment for the data center, industrial, and commercial construction markets is seeking a hands-on production leader to launch and scale operations. Production Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 5+ years in a production supervisory or managerial role
  • Direct, hands-on experience in UL 508A industrial control panel or UL 891 switchgear/switchboard manufacturing (strong preference for both)
  • Proven ownership or authorship of a UL Quality Manual and experience with successful UL audits
  • Material experience achieving or maintaining UL 508A or UL 891 certification for a panel shop
  • Working fluency in electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, and BOM interpretation
  • Experience supervising teams of 8+ technicians or assemblers
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP production scheduling systems (NetSuite, Epicor, etc.)
  • Free from non-compete, non-solicit, and confidentiality restrictions

Production Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Hands-on with Eplan P8, Pro Panel, Smart Wiring; or advanced experience with Rittal Wire Terminal machines
  • Experience with data center, hyperscaler, or critical infrastructure clients
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications
  • Electrical license (master electrician welcome)
  • Proven track record in high-mix, low-to-medium-volume custom manufacturing
  • Background in startup or greenfield facility launch

Production Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and deliver all customer orders, targeting a 4–6 week lead time from PO to shipment
  • Drive and oversee UL 508A/891 certification, including authoring the Quality Manual, managing the UL inspector relationship, and maintaining all documentation
  • Establish and enforce comprehensive inspection and quality protocols to deliver below 1% warranty claim rates
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop a high-performing shop team, building a culture of craftsmanship and accountability
  • Maintain a safe, OSHA-compliant workplace, including training, PPE, and incident reporting
  • Manage vendor relationships, supply chain, and shop budget, delivering to a gross margin target of 45–55%
  • Lead implementation of Eplan Smart Wiring and champion automation improvements as scale grows
  • Provide weekly operational insights to the CEO and monthly updates to the board on key KPIs and initiatives
