We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Sales Engineer / Proposal Estimator to join our Business Development team. In this role, you will develop cost estimates, create conceptual designs, and support proposal generation in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys bridging engineering and customer-facing responsibilities while working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and contracts
Develop conceptual designs with a focus on manufacturability
Prepare accurate cost estimates using materials, components, and manufacturing data
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and other internal teams
Source material and component pricing
Create CAD models and general assembly drawings (SolidWorks or similar)
Prepare and deliver tailored proposals and technical solutions
Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings
Maintain organized documentation to support project handoff
Assist engineering team as needed during low proposal activity

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience in cost estimating or manufacturing/engineering environment
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, CNC, welding, assembly)
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred:

Experience in a customer-facing or business development role
Familiarity with ERP systems
Knowledge of NQA-1 quality standards
Experience with steel fabrication and welding processes

Work Environment & Requirements

Primarily office-based with occasional time in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
Occasional overtime or travel may be required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
