Catering Chef Benefits & Compensation

Catering Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of catering or banquet experience required
  • Prior experience in a catering hall or event-driven kitchen strongly preferred
  • Proven team leadership experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Food Handler Certification required or willingness to obtain
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Catering Chef Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience tracking and managing food and labor costs
  • Background in menu development or seasonal menu planning

Catering Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute high-volume catering and banquet production
  • Lead, train, and manage a team of 5–7 kitchen staff
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and timely execution for all events
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards
  • Collaborate on menu development and seasonal offerings
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage orders as needed
  • Create and manage staff schedules to meet operational needs
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
