Position: Electrical Estimator (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

Summary

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing precise, competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. This role requires strong technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under deadlines. The successful candidate will help deliver profitable, well-planned projects by ensuring estimates are accurate, cost-effective, and aligned with client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating & Analysis: Review drawings and specifications, define project scope, and prepare detailed electrical estimates including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate pricing, negotiate terms, and secure the most competitive and reliable bids.
  • Risk & Change Management: Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage change orders to maintain profitability and transparency.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure consistency between estimates, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Reporting & Quality Control: Prepare estimate summaries and maintain detailed cost records. Review submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed on industry trends, material pricing, labor markets, and competitor strategies to maintain accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in project closeouts to evaluate performance and implement process improvements for future bids.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an electrical estimator in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid (Classic), LiveCount, On-Screen Takeoff, or other Trimble solutions.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
