Attorney – Social Services Department Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State
  • Experience in family law or social services law preferred
  • Strong litigation, research, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Residency in Chenango County not required (can reside in surrounding counties)

Attorney – Social Services Department Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel to the Department of Social Services
  • Represent the County in Family Court proceedings and administrative hearings
  • Interpret and apply New York State Social Services Law
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and case-related materials
  • Work collaboratively with caseworkers, supervisors, and county officials
