Attorney – Social Services Department Qualifications:

Licensed to practice law in New York State
Experience in family law or social services law preferred
Strong litigation, research, and negotiation skills
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
Residency in Chenango County not required (can reside in surrounding counties)

Attorney – Social Services Department Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal counsel to the Department of Social Services
Represent the County in Family Court proceedings and administrative hearings
Interpret and apply New York State Social Services Law
Draft legal documents, correspondence, and case-related materials
Work collaboratively with caseworkers, supervisors, and county officials
