Assistant General Manager – Limited-Service Hotel

St. Ignace, MI | $45,000–$55,000 + Benefits

Ready to run more than just the front desk?

We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant General Manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of a limited-service hotel in St. Ignace, MI. This is a great opportunity for a hospitality leader who understands that running a successful hotel means being visible, supporting the team, solving problems quickly, and keeping both guests and operations on track.

You’ll work closely with the General Manager while gaining broad exposure to property operations, including front desk, housekeeping, staffing, labor management, guest satisfaction, and brand compliance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $45,000–$55,000 annually, based on experience
  • Benefits package
  • Stable hotel leadership opportunity
  • Broad operational responsibility and exposure
  • Opportunity to continue developing toward a future General Manager role

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the General Manager to oversee daily hotel operations and property performance
  • Lead and support front desk, housekeeping, and other operational team members
  • Maintain brand standards throughout the property
  • Assist with hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and employee performance
  • Monitor labor and operating expenses against budget expectations
  • Handle guest concerns and service recovery professionally and efficiently
  • Oversee front desk operations, including check-in, check-out, and audit support when needed
  • Inspect guest rooms and public areas for cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance issues
  • Assist with inventory management, purchasing, and operational supplies
  • Support hotel safety, security, and emergency procedures
  • Complete operational reports and administrative responsibilities
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when the General Manager is unavailable

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous hotel supervisory or management experience
  • Experience with limited-service hotel operations is a plus
  • Working knowledge of front desk and housekeeping operations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to coach employees, delegate responsibilities, and hold the team accountable
  • Basic understanding of hotel budgeting, labor management, and operating expenses
  • Strong guest-service and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on operations
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as business needs require
  • Willingness to jump into operations when the team needs support
  •

The Right Fit

You don’t need to be the person hiding in the office with a spreadsheet open all day. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being out in the hotel, knows what’s happening with the team and guests, and can shift from reviewing labor numbers to helping solve a guest issue without missing a beat.

You’ll be a strong fit if you’re approachable, organized, accountable, calm under pressure, and ready to take ownership.

If you know that “Manager on Duty” sometimes means manager, problem-solver, coach, detective, and occasional keeper of the lost-and-found—all before lunch—we should talk.
