Payroll Specialist – Nashville, TN
An established commercial construction group is seeking a skilled payroll specialist to join their in-office team. Payroll Specialist Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years of accounting experience focused on payroll administration and payroll tax processing
- Background in construction or cost accounting preferred
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, computerized accounting systems, and strong math skills
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
- Capable of maintaining punctuality, reliability, and a high level of accuracy
Payroll Specialist Preferred Background & Skills
- Prior experience in payroll processing for construction or related industries
- Familiarity with certified payroll requests and garnishment administration
- Strong independent problem-solving and judgment abilities
Payroll Specialist Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review and process employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
- Administer all aspects of payroll, including weekly processing, terminations, changes, and leave payments per company policy
- Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts
- Calculate and remit weekly payroll tax deposits, assist with tax returns, and year-end W-2 issuance
- Manage garnishments and certified payroll requests as assigned
- Provide support for employee verifications and statistical reports
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and assist with front desk coverage as needed
