We are seeking a production underwriter who is an independent thinker and can evaluate accounts based on the story and context rather than following traditional algorithmic pricing models. This client seeks good safety cultures and has a high-risk tolerance, with over 100 years of combined experience on the team. If you have strong retail broker relationships, love to network and market on your own, and have strong workers' comp experience, we would love to speak with you!
Production Underwriter – Workers’ Compensation
Remote with Travel
A fast-growing specialty insurance group is seeking a Production Underwriter to drive middle-market Workers’ Comp business (avg. premium ~$500K).
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and price larger WC accounts.
- Build and maintain strong retail broker relationships (target ~100 qualified submissions/year).
- Represent the company as a decision-maker in a highly competitive market.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of WC underwriting (high-severity classes preferred).
- Established retail broker relationships in the Western Mid-Atlantic (Western PA, Maryland, DC. Virginia).
- Strong reputation, self-motivated, and relationship-driven.
Comp & Benefits:
- Base $140–$160K + 20% bonus.
