A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Architectural Engineering to join its Milwaukee team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who combines strong technical knowledge with proven experience managing projects, multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, budgets, schedules, and successful project delivery.

The organization specializes in high-performance, energy-efficient building systems and provides multidisciplinary engineering services across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, sustainability, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from initiation through successful delivery
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, quality standards, and contractual requirements
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities across multiple concurrent projects and project teams
  • Develop project task lists, scopes of work, schedules, and task-level budgets
  • Assign project responsibilities and provide ongoing direction and guidance to team members
  • Monitor project performance to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Maintain accountability for the accuracy and quality of technical work delivered to clients
  • Coordinate effectively with external subconsultants and clearly define project responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary client-facing representative and maintain strong professional relationships throughout and following project completion
  • Participate in proposal development, client presentations, and preparation of contractual agreements
  • Identify potential scope changes and ensure appropriate client authorization is obtained before additional services are performed
  • Review project invoices and support appropriate follow-up related to outstanding client accounts
  • Mentor and support the technical development of project team members
  • Promote strong communication and collaboration across engineering disciplines
  • Contribute to the continued development and application of engineering design and production standards
  • Support successful project financial performance and profitability

Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in engineering design and/or engineering project management
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects from initiation through delivery
  • Strong understanding of project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and project teams simultaneously
  • Experience within an engineering consulting, architectural engineering, MEP, building systems, or closely related professional-services environment strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical education preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
  • Strong client-facing communication, leadership, planning, decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of applicable engineering and building codes
  • Experience with CAD and/or Autodesk Revit preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable engineering design and load-calculation software is a plus
  • Ability to provide technical oversight and maintain high standards for project accuracy and quality

Technical Background

Candidates may come from either a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background.

Mechanical candidates may bring experience with systems such as:

  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Fire protection
  • Heating and ventilation
  • Air conditioning
  • Temperature controls

Electrical candidates may bring experience with systems such as:

  • Electrical distribution
  • Lighting systems
  • Specialty electrical systems

This individual can confidently work with clients, lead technical teams, manage competing priorities, control scope and budgets, coordinate subconsultants, and help drive successful project outcomes.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for an experienced engineering Project Manager who enjoys combining technical leadership, client relationships, team development, and project financial responsibility.

Work Environment

This position requires full-time in-office presence during the initial training period, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule in the future based on successful integration into the role and business needs.
