A growing manufacturing company is seeking a Design Engineer to lead product development from concept through production. This role will focus on designing components and assemblies, building and testing prototypes, and partnering with manufacturing to bring new products to life. The ideal candidate will bring strong SolidWorks and 3D design skills, automotive product development experience, and the ability to own a design from first concept through release to production.
Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Design and engineer components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies for new products
- Build, test, and refine prototypes to meet design specifications
- Prepare and release manufacturing drawings and specifications in coordination with production engineering
- Manage design changes and component substitutions across drawings, tooling, and purchase specifications
- Perform R&D on new technologies, materials, and product trends
Design Engineer Qualifications
- 7+ years of product development experience in automotive manufacturing
- BSME or equivalent engineering degree
- Strong SolidWorks, 3D design, and technical drawing skills
- Working knowledge of GD&T, dimensioning, and reading engineering drawings
- PDM and engineering documentation experience is preferred
