Position Overview

A leading construction management firm is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee complex healthcare construction projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.

This position is responsible for managing all phases of project delivery, including preconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor management, client relations, quality control, safety oversight, and project closeout. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing healthcare projects within occupied environments and possess strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through turnover and final closeout.
  • Manage project teams, including Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and field staff.
  • Foster collaboration and communication between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communications.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, issue resolution, and change management processes.
  • Support business development efforts through exceptional client service and repeat business opportunities.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor subcontractor financial performance and capacity to deliver project requirements.
  • Review and negotiate subcontract agreements and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and owner requirements.

Construction Operations

  • Oversee all phases of construction planning and execution.
  • Coordinate required third-party inspections and regulatory approvals.
  • Ensure project teams maintain accurate schedules, procurement logs, and reporting.
  • Manage material procurement, fabrication tracking, and long-lead item schedules.
  • Support TCO, final inspections, and Certificate of Occupancy processes.

Quality & Safety

  • Lead implementation of project-specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NYCDOB, FDNY, and healthcare facility requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular site reviews and hold project teams accountable for quality and safety standards.

Team Development

  • Mentor and develop project team members.
  • Support career growth and professional development within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of construction management experience.
  • 3+ years managing healthcare construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects in occupied healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience coordinating inspections and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Experience with major NYC healthcare systems, including hospital renovations, medical office buildings, laboratories, or critical care environments.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols (ICRA) and phased healthcare construction.
