Business Development Specialist – Houston, TX

Business Development Specialist Requirements & Qualifications
- Meat and/or seafood industry experience required
- Minimum understanding of commodity markets and forecasting models
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and drive new business development
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven presentation skills with the ability to represent the department externally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets)
Business Development Specialist Preferred Background & Skills
- Broadline sales experience preferred
- Experience multitasking, prioritizing, and meeting tight deadlines
- Strategic thinker able to network and build long-term relationships
Business Development Specialist Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct product training and support for internal sales teams
- Partner with sales representatives to prospect and grow new accounts
- Consult with customers on new items and menu ideas to drive profitability
- Analyze competitor products and market trends to expand market share
- Track sales trends, identify and address lost sales, and create action plans for business recovery
- Communicate daily with operational teams to ensure timely fulfillment and problem resolution
- Oversee special pricing, high-volume orders, and inventory substitutions as needed
- Participate in food shows, cross-departmental meetings, and customer presentations
