Our client is a specialized product design firm in Northern Marin, CA seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to own circuit design and system architecture for complex, high-volume consumer products. This is a hybrid, client-facing role that blends deep technical ownership with hands-on lab work and direct collaboration with customers. The ideal candidate has led schematic and circuit design from concept through validation and is comfortable driving PCB layout as part of a complete hardware solution. Senior Hardware Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end circuit design, from system architecture and schematic development through validation
  • Design, build, and validate electronic systems for high-volume consumer products
  • Lead schematic capture and drive or review PCB layout using OrCAD and Allegro to ensure design intent
  • Develop and integrate hardware architectures across multi-component systems
  • Conduct hands-on board bring-up, system-level testing, validation, and debugging in a lab environment
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive system design
  • Interface directly with clients to gather requirements, lead design reviews, and provide technical direction
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement effective hardware design improvements

Senior Hardware Design Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in hardware or electrical design engineering
  • Proven ownership of schematic and circuit design for consumer electronic products
  • Experience designing and validating power, analog, and digital circuits
  • Proficiency with OrCAD Capture and Allegro PCB Editor
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and lab debugging skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to clients
  • Hands-on experience supporting hardware through the full product lifecycle

Senior Hardware Design Engineer Compensation:

  • Annual salary range of $150K–$180K, based on experience
  • Hybrid schedule in SF Bay Area to start
