Non-Ferrous Trader

Company: Confidential | Location: Confidential

A confidential metals recycling organization is seeking an experienced Non-Ferrous Trader to join its commercial team. This role focuses on sourcing, buying, pricing, and selling non-ferrous scrap while managing key supplier and customer relationships in a fast-moving commodity environment.

Responsibilities

Sourcing & Buying

  • Purchase non-ferrous grades (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, insulated wire, alloys).
  • Build and maintain relationships with industrial suppliers, dealers, peddlers, and demo companies.
  • Evaluate material quality, pricing opportunities, and conduct supplier visits.

Trading & Sales

  • Sell materials to mills, foundries, brokers, exporters, and secondary consumers.
  • Manage daily buy/sell positions and margin targets.
  • Develop new domestic and international sales outlets.
  • Handle contracts, logistics coordination, and timely deliveries.

Market & Pricing

  • Monitor LME/COMEX, mill demand, freight, and global trends.
  • Set daily pricing and analyze spreads, costs, and profitability.

Operations & Logistics

  • Align purchasing with processing capacity and inventory goals.
  • Ensure materials meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate pickups, deliveries, container loads, and exports.

Inventory & Compliance

  • Manage inventory levels and grading accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with ISRI specs, export rules, and environmental guidelines.
  • Prepare POs, BOLs, shipping documents, and customs/export paperwork.

Financial Oversight

  • Track commodity profitability.
  • Minimize downgrades and quality claims.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in non-ferrous trading, buying, or sales preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of non-ferrous grades, ISRI specs, and pricing.
  • Ability to interpret market data and react quickly.
  • Experience working with operations and logistics teams.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
