We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead HR operations for an established, growing manufacturing organization in West Sacramento, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and brings strong expertise in California employment law, employee relations, payroll compliance, workers' compensation, and workplace safety.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting large, predominantly hourly workforces and can independently manage day-to-day HR operations while partnering with senior leadership to improve processes, strengthen employee engagement, and support continued growth.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including HR management or leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of California employment law, wage and hour regulations, and meal/rest break compliance.
• Hands-on experience with payroll administration, employee relations, workplace investigations, and workers' compensation.
• Experience supporting large, predominantly hourly workforces in multi-shift environments.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage HR operations and partner with operational leadership.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in manufacturing, food production, warehouse operations, distribution, or similar operational environments preferred.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Human Resources functions for a 24/7 manufacturing operation with 200+ employees across multiple shifts.
• Manage biweekly payroll processing, auditing, and compliance with California wage and hour laws, including meal and rest break requirements.
• Lead employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
• Oversee workers' compensation claims, injury investigations, return-to-work programs, and claims management.
• Develop and manage workplace safety initiatives, employee training, and injury prevention programs.
• Manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding, orientation, employee retention, and termination processes.
• Partner with plant leadership to ensure consistent HR policies, employment practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve onboarding, and optimize HRIS systems.
• Support employee engagement, recognition programs, and workplace culture initiatives
