A growing luxury hospitality and property management company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to strengthen operations across a national portfolio of group travel accommodations. Reporting to the CEO, this executive will build the leadership, systems, and operating standards that improve profitability while protecting the guest experience.

Chief Operating Officer Requirements & Qualifications – this is what Hunter will prioritize screening for

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years of operations leadership experience, including at least five years at the executive level in multi-market hospitality, property management, or real estate operations.
  • Proven success owning daily operational results across geographically distributed markets while leading through senior managers.
  • Strong command of P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Demonstrated success implementing operating systems, automation, and processes that improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Experience leading centralized purchasing or supply chain functions across multiple markets and diverse vendors.
  • Experience building and scaling leadership teams, including distributed or offshore teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence executives and field teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to markets and properties nationwide.

Position-specific responsibilities:

  • Assess and rebuild market leadership structures, recruit and develop market leaders, and expand an offshore assistant general manager model.
  • Strengthen field training so onboarding, operating standards, and performance expectations remain consistent across markets.
  • Oversee the national property setup and installation pipeline, including launch budgets, timelines, staffing, and handoffs from construction to operations.
  • Partner with Construction, Design, and Marketing to launch properties that meet brand standards and profitability goals.
  • Standardize vendor contracts and master service agreements for furnishings, consumables, utilities, cleaning, and repair and maintenance services.
  • Build centralized procurement and inventory practices that reduce waste and improve purchasing efficiency.
  • Automate manual workflows, including property lock and access management.
  • Establish reporting and escalation processes that surface operational, financial, and staffing risks early.
  • Within the first 90 days, complete a market-by-market assessment and deliver a written operating plan with named owners and deadlines.
  • Drive market-level budget and net operating income performance, portfolio-wide adoption of standard operating procedures, leadership retention, and a company-wide guest review score of 4.85 or higher.

Chief Operating Officer Preferred Background & Skills

  • MBA or equivalent operational leadership training.
  • Direct experience in luxury short-term rentals or group travel accommodations.
  • Experience scaling an offshore assistant general manager model.
  • Experience coordinating property launches across construction, design, marketing, and operations.
  • Familiarity with property access automation and technology-enabled hospitality operations.
