This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the human resources function for a rapidly expanding, multi-location organization in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. The role offers the chance to build HR infrastructure from the ground up, partner closely with senior leadership, and support growth through acquisitions.

Director of Human Resources Benefits & Compensation

  • Competitive base salary of approximately $175,000, plus 20–25% bonus potential
  • Opportunity to lead HR strategy in a growing, multi-location organization
  • Influence and build scalable HR processes and people strategies

Director of Human Resources Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Proven HR leadership in manufacturing, industrial, equipment rental, construction services, or a similar operational environment
  • Experience managing union and non-union labor relations
  • Proficiency with Paycom for payroll and HR operations
  • Demonstrated ability to build HR systems, policies, and processes
  • Strong skills in employee relations, performance management, compensation, recruiting, benefits, and payroll
  • Experience supporting multiple locations and a growing workforce
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Hands-on leadership style capable of combining strategic vision with day-to-day involvement

Director of Human Resources Preferred Background & Skills

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and integrating HR functions
  • Familiarity with Chicago-area union environments, including Local 150
  • Background working in fast-growing, entrepreneurial organizations

Director of Human Resources Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead HR strategy and daily operations across multiple locations
  • Develop and improve HR systems, policies, and best practices
  • Manage employee and labor relations in union and non-union settings
  • Design structured compensation, salary guidelines, and performance management programs
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and workforce planning
  • Support HR integration during acquisitions and expansion
  • Maintain and optimize Paycom to streamline payroll and HR processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws
  • Preserve a people-focused culture while introducing necessary organizational structure
